Job Description
- S/he will be responsible for preparing financial statements, alongside diverse reports for managerial insights and decision-making.
- S/he will assist in annual budgeting and forecasting while monitoring the organisation’s financial performance and recommending solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements, including project accounting, balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
- Generate various financial reports and analysis to provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with management and other units to gather relevant information and ensure alignment with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance to identify variances and provide explanations as well as recommendations for corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal tax regulations.
- Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure the organisation’s tax strategies remain effective and compliant
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits to provide necessary documentation and explanations to ensure a smooth audit process
- Analyse financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement and process improvement.
- Provide insights into financial performance and assist in making informed strategic decisions.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in calculations, deductions and timely disbursement of employee salaries
- Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and regulations to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to industry best practices.
- Identify areas of inefficiency in financial processes and recommend and implement improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study.
- Associate or membership certification from ICAN, ANAN or ACCA
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably within a professional services or management consulting firm.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and provide insights.
- Effective communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- High level of integrity and professionalism when dealing with sensitive financial information.
